Questions
The Most Frequently Asked Question is......
Q:How Long Will It Take To Get My Order Completed and
Shipped???
A:At On Target Technologies we work very hard to provide you with a unique, truly custom
barrel that has been proven to be ultra accurate in comparison to any other out there today.
Every customer and order is an individual that we treat with the utmost respect. In return we
Ask for the same respect to be extended to us.
Phone calls to remind us of what you ordered does not help the order progress smoothly.
Many variables impact the progress of a project and, being on the phone is one that holds
everyone up.
If you wish to assume that your order and funds are being
mishandled or are not important to us, then it may not be a good idea to
place an order.
We use Premium Blanks from Douglas Barrels. Depending on your specific barrel/cartridge
requirements our blank orders can take 4-8 weeks before we take receipt of them. We hope this
problem can be corrected but until then, that is 4-8 weeks we have to wait.
Unlike other Custom Shops we Do Not use reamers to cut your
chamber. At On Target Tech. an individual (chambering) electrode is designed to the
exact measurements YOU the customer specify for YOUR barrel.
You'll be looking at 6 Months for your order to be
completed properly and shipped to you.
Of course there are exceptions to every rule and if your order is
completed sooner? Great! We'll let you know when it is shipped so
you can plan a day off to go play with it.
If Not? Again, We'll let you know if any problems arise that may
hinder the completion of your order in the the allocated time
frame.
Your Order is important to us and we appreciate your questions and concerns on our lead
time. However, We don't do rush jobs. If you need a barrel real quick so you can go shoot next
week there are quite a few shops that can probably accomadate your needs.
The quantity of phone calls and e-mails
we receive regarding deliver time is over whelming and distracts from our commitment......
To build you a barrel that is Guaranteed, Ultra Accurate and Uniquely Custom by design.
Q: Are the TCR Barrels coming out soon?
A: Due to the varying number of orders we have for projects and other barrels,
The TCR Project has been shelved indefinitely.
We hope to finish our prototypes at a later
date and resume plans for full production, however, there are quite a few variables involved in the production of TCR Barrels and the time involved would make the prices prohibitive at this time.
We appreciate your interest in our work and will post updates as they become available.
Q:Just how big of a cartridge can you build on the Encore
frame?
NOTE:10-20-06 We have discontinued any Weatherby Chamberings for the T/C
Encores.
A:The main criteria with the T/C Encore & Contender is
pressure. Some of the old BP cartridges are HUGE and yet operate
under very low pressures. With modern day cartridges such as the
WSMs,RUMs,SAUMs etc. the pressure is bordering on EXTREME (for
the break action firearms) with factory ammunition. When choosing
a cartridge for your Encore please pay attention to the web area
dimension on your case. We prefer around .513 as it seems to be
about perfect for the Encore. NOTE: On belted cases, check your measurements just above
the belt.
Once you get to .550 like in the RUMs and WSMs, the factory
ammo is hot and more clearance is necessary to extract the case.
Then, if handloading, factory velocities will not be achieved
before the pressures stop you again.
Handloaders have a few more options as they can control pressures
a bit over factory loadings. However, Factory velocities
will not be achieved with these cartridge/barrel combinations in
the T/C Encores.
We will work on an individual basis when these cartridges are
being considered for the T/C Encores
Q:I have been hearing a lot about an OTTLLC 'SharkGill' Brake
System. Do you have more info on this?
A:We now have our 'SharkGill' Brake System tested and you can
read more on this unique design HERE
Q:Do you build custom dies?
A:We build die bodies to match your chamber. Customer will need to
provide their own seating stems and decap rods
Prices start at $225.00 For Die Bodies ONLY
Q:OK I have the dies can you cut them to match my chamber?
A:Yes. Price for cutting existing dies...$125.00
Q:What is a Contender 'Step Barrel'
A:Designed for the Contender, the 'Step Barrel' allows for a
full 1" inch bull barrel to be used on the Contender frames.
Until now barrels have been held to .810"
Q:I bought an XYZ Brand muzzle brake. Can you install it on my
barrel for me?
A:We can install your muzzle brakes, no problem.
Price..$100.00+S/H
Q:I had a reamer made for a wildcat design. If I send it to
you, can you cut me a chamber with it?
A:You can send us the reamer if you like but, other than using
the dimensions, we won't use it. Our Patented EDM process
eliminates the use of reamers thus eliminating another varible in
the accuracy game. A reamer is used many times, resharpened
(which changes everything) and used some more. At OTT we use one
electrode on one chamber which is why we can say
"Our barrels are a true custom chambering, unique before all
others".
Q:How do I determine the correct seating depth for the dummy
rounds I need for my barrel? I want to shoot several different
types of bullets with varying weights and lengths.
A:Make sure you send in the dummies with the longest &
heaviest weight bullet you will shoot out of your barrel. The
amount of freebore the lighter smaller bullet travels doesnt seem
to matter in a well machined chamber. But, if we
cut the chamber around the shorter, lighter bullet
then going to a longer, heavier bullet becomes a
problem. For further discussion on this subject check out our
forum

Q: Do you rechamber NEF barrels?
A: NEF re-chambers are available. Price for a re-chamber is

before any work begins.
Q:How about a complete barrel assembly for the NEF/HR
Handi-Rifles?
A:Not at this time.
Q: What 'Take-Off' Bbls are acceptable T/C Conversions?
A: The main rules of thumb on takeoff conversions....
The chamber end must be a minimal .810 for Contenders, 1" for
Encores.
Barrels must be of modern construction.
Ruger 10-22 barrels must be constructed out of the 4140
steel.
Q: Do you make Muzzle loader barrels?
A: We make Muzzleloading barrels incorporating the 209 priming
system ONLY
Q: How about Shotgun Barrels? Do you make them?
A: Perhaps in the future. At this time tho, We are not going
to design any shotgun barrels.
Q: I want a barrel chambered for one of the Grendell
Cartridges. Can you do this?
A: NO. We have been asked NOT to do the Grendell Line of
Cartridges in our custom chambers and will respect that
request.
Q:OK. Then how about a chambering in some other propriety
cartridge?
A: NO. OTT will not chamber any barrel in a propriety cartridge
EXCEPT for our own OTTR Line
