Since Mike S. over at On Target Technologies began making barrels for the Thompson Center Contender and Encores the results coming in have been great to say the least. Check out the groups turned in from the fine folks who actually shoot these barrels, then decide for yourself whether you want to fork out the big bucks to take the chance on 'Someone Elses' (WHEN you get it) or save yourself some cash and start shooting the best barrel you can buy today. The choice is yours.
If you have an OTT barrel and would like to share your experience let us know!

I promised you an honest feedback on this barrel you just sent me, so here goes...
~1st I liked the finish.
~When I slipped the hinge pin in I thought it should have been a bit snugger. it wasn't loose but not as tight as I wanted. I could push it through with my fingers and I was expecting to oil it and knock it through with light taps.
~I then measured the barrel to frame breechface clearance and it was less than .001 fantastic!
~Next was the chamber check... it was absouletly perfectly concentric and the cases seated to less than .0005 from flush! So my headspace was perfect! Thanks!
~I loaded some untouched out of the box Lapua brass with AA2230, and seated Fed 205M primers. I loaded 75 GR V-max bullets .001 into the lands. I thought I would load the serious benchrest bullets after fire forming and barrel breakin etc.
~I went to the public range and cleaned the barrel with some Butchs bore shine and fired 2 for a little "seasoning" & to zero it in. Recleaned and shot for group and load developement.
~The range officer looking through a 40X spotting scope didn't see shots 2&3 ..I just grinned because I know what a good 6BR will do.
~Shot #5 opened the group to a measured .207 1st group right out of the box! V max bullets no less! I couldn't be happier!
~ I have a $3000.00 6BR, a famous gunsmith & benchrest Hall of famer built for me thats going up for sale now. They shoot identical!
I am very Happy! : ) Richard

I received my 10 inch 357 Mag step barrel from OTT and have had a chance to do a little shooting of it. First loads with 158 gr Winchester HP's shot average one inch at 50 yds at a Vel of 1600 fps. Next was Remington bulk 180 gr HP's and 4 groups average at 50 yds was .600, small group of .320 and large group was .728. Another outstanding OTT barrel with fit and finish. One thing I have noticed with the OTT barrels I have is they seem to shoot any reasonable load well and with very little load development outstanding groups can be had.

The 221 barrel I got from Mike is outstanding. I haven't had much chance to shoot it yet but the two times I have had it out the accuracy was fantastic.
The chamber is perfect. Not much resizing to be done. Mike did a rechamber on a carbine barrel. He rechambered a 6x45 which I had always had a problem with vertical stringing, into a 6mm bullberry, no more vertical stringing, great accuracy and its a dream to shoot.
I haven't had it out but a couple of times. This spring after it warms up both barrels will get a good workout with chrono and will be glad to post results.
The fit and finish are perfect. I like the inside finish and being able to have the chamber size and neck size I want. The less I have to work brass resizing, the happier I am.
Got a 22 lr carbine barrel coming from OTT and can't wait to report on it.

I received my second new barrel, a 22lr step carbine from Mike at OTT and its a hummer. The outside finish is excellent and chamber is perfect.
I put it on with a very pretty quilted maple carbine stock set and shot it. Shot a couple of good groups but didn't feel the forearm was right as the screws compressed when I tightened them. I received a target laminated forearm with a hanger bar from Georgia Jim for a step 7tcu coming from Mike and installed it on the carbine with a Bullberry buttstock.
This felt much better shooting from bench and did shoot much better. I shot 7 different kinds of 22lr at 50 yards and averaged .244 for the 7 groups. Mike does outstanding work as this barrel shows.
I feel this set up will beat the full blown 22lr BR sako with a Shilen barrel I had and sold. I have two more new barrels ordered from OTT and can't wait to get them and shoot them. Its so good to be able to pick chamber size and get what you want....Tommy

These are simply the best Bbls I've ever owned

I received my 15 inch fluted step 7tcu barrel from Mike and its a winner also. I had bought some Federal Match 7tcu brass on ebay and had Mike cut the chamber for this brass and it is outstanding. Loaded up my old standby 7tcu loads and headed to the range. Could only get the 75 yd bench and shot 3 groups. 24 grs of H-4895 and Sierra 140 spitzers, group was .290. 26 grs of H-4985 and 130 gr Sierra match and two groups of .606 (one outside group and my fault, 4 in .251) next group was .231 for 5 shot groups. Fit is perfect, accuracy is outstanding. It is great to get a chamber cut for the brass instead of having to fit the brass to the chamber. A plus all the way.
